Award Winning Maple Syrup

Hilltop Boilers is pleased to announce that they were the recipients of several awards at the Maine Agricultural Trade Show in Augusta on Wed. January 11, 2023.  First and foremost, we would like to congratulate Julia for receiving this year’s Young Sugarmaker Award given out by the Maine Maple Producers Association.

We are so proud of our Julia!  As all our patrons know, Julia is the face that most folks see when they walk into the Maple Store in Newfield.  Not only is she efficient at running the register, but she also knows how to enter products, run reports and is the primary problem solver when things don’t work correctly. She is also knowledgeable in answering customer questions, and customers frequently ask for her when she is not there.  Outside of her “job” in the store, she maintains a 4.0 grade point average, records commercials with Portland Radio Group, loves to craft, sings in a choir, and performs in the drama club.  Last year, Julia shared the lead role in the production of Junie B. Jones, and this spring she will be performing as JoJo in the school’s production of Seussical.  Julia also competed in her school’s spelling bee and won First Place.  She will be headed to regional competition next month.  She has a very bright future ahead of her!

As a participant in this year’s Maple tasting competition, Hilltop Boilers also took home top prize of Best in Show for our Amber/Rich Syrup entry.  Our Amber/Rich syrup was also awarded a 1st Place for its category along with our Pure Maple Candy.  Coming in with 2nd Place ribbons were our Golden/Delicate syrup, Dark/Robust syrup and our Maple Cream.  We also took home a 3rd Place ribbon for our Very Dark/Strong syrup.  Overall, we are very pleased with our showing in this tasting competition!
